Fairfield Sportsmen’s Association is affiliated with the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA), the largest organization in the world solely dedicated to the sport of skeet shooting.
We have two well maintained skeet fields on our grounds available year around to our members and their guests. Non-members are also welcome to shoot skeet during any of our scheduled organized events which include Open Shoots, Skeet Leagues, Registered and Non-Registered Competitions, and Skeet Training Clinics. To shoot skeet you need your own shotgun (or borrow one from a friend), safety glasses (prescription glasses are acceptable), hearing protection, shotshells, and a shooting vest or pouch to hold at least 25 shells.
For more information, please contact our Skeet Section Leader, Bill Henggeler.
Casual Skeet
For FSA members and their guests, our two skeet fields are loaded with targets and ready to go 7 days a week from 9am to posted club closing time (except for Special Events listed on the Calendar such as Open Shoots, Leagues, Youth Programs, and Competitions). Where else can you go that have the shooting opportunities that FSA offers?
We also have a Canterbury voice release system available, for those of you that cannot find a shooting partner or you just want to practice alone for the day. Casual skeet is run by the RSO on duty. You check in with the RSO, pick a field you want to shoot, grab the voice release if you are alone or skeet remote if not, and go break some clays! Just shoot and then pay the RSO for your rounds when you return the skeet remote.
Open Shoots
Our open shoots are an opportunity for you and your friends to meet our friendly members, find out more about skeet shooting and equipment, and practice a few rounds of skeet yourself. If you have never shot skeet or even a shotgun, but you’ve got the “bug”, stop down during our open shoots and ask the skeet manager about one on one skeet instruction and our beginners skeet clinic.
- Sundays 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Fridays 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Skeet Leagues
We offer four skeet leagues each year on Wednesdays from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, one 10-week league per season. The cost of each skeet league includes cash prizes and an end of league cookout or dinner. Our skeet leagues are a great way to jump right into skeet and to get to know our friendly skeet shooters.

- Side-X-Side League begins January 6, 2025

Skeet Ammunition
Only #9, #8.5 #8, and #7.5 lead shot shells can be used on FSA’s skeet fields for safety reasons. #6 size and larger (6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 00 etc.) CANNOT be used. Also steel shot CANNOT be used. Obviously NO slugs EVER!
Rules of Thumb:
- The shells you hunt with normally cannot be shot on the Skeet Fields.
- High brass shells are normally an indicator of hunting loads, not Skeet Loads.
- If you don’t know what new shells or reloads you have, please don’t use them on the Skeet Fields without approval of the Skeet Manager on duty.
- FSA has shotgun target loads (12ga, 20ga, 28ga, and 410) available for sale at the Trap House and the Skeet House during Sunday and Friday Open Shoots.
If you’d like more information on what Skeet loads may be best for you and your gun, stop by our Open Shoots on Friday evenings or Sunday mornings. We have a lot of seasoned shooters that would love to help you out. Make sure you bring your gun – we’d love to have you shoot with us!
