Skeet

The People Who Shoot Skeet Men, women and children of all walks of life who believe in safe gun handling, take pride in shooting well and enjoy skeet shooting with friends and family. Many shooters enjoy competing with themselves and others for prizes, self-satisfaction and self-achievement. At Fairfield Sportsmen’s Association, you'll find a wide cross section of wives, husbands, single parents, children and grandparents. Tournaments are divided into many different classes, so shooters will be competing against others of equal ability.

Is Skeet an Expensive Sport? Not necessarily, it depends on your personal objectives. You can have a lifetime of fun and fellowship at Fairfield Sportsmen’s Association in return for a small investment in the shotgun of your choice, safety gear and modest ammunition costs. On the other hand, if shooting in state, regional, national and international tournaments is what you prefer, then, like any sport, the costs can go as high as your ambition and budget will allow.

What if I've Never Shot a Shotgun Before? Membership in Fairfield Sportsmen’s Association affiliated with the NSSA offers you the finest and safest means of learning to shoot from scratch. Ask for instruction on the care, cleaning, and operation of the machines, the fields, and lights. The experienced shooters are glad to describe the target sequence, technique, and safety issues for new people. Rigid safety regulations are enforced and certified instructors are available to you. Only targets purchased at Fairfield Sportsmen’s Association are permitted and can be obtained from the caretaker. The price per case includes the value of the use of the machines. During the shooting season tournaments are scheduled closing the skeet fields. Look to the calendar for the events scheduled on the fields.

What are the range rules? It is required of you and all on the range to wear safety glasses. It is also a must for you to wear hearing protection on the fields. It is not acceptable for your children to be pushing the button without the same safety gear as the shooters safety glasses and hearing protection. If you are in need of safety glasses or hearing protection look in the desk at the skeet house. When you are finished shooting return the glasses to the desk.

When can I shoot? The skeet fields are available to members for personal use from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily except Friday nights after 6:00 PM and Sundays starting at 9:00 AM when a manager will be on the desk. During those times it is acceptable for non-members to shoot at Fairfield Sportsmen’s Association.
