Rifle Range Rules & SOP
 
1.No guests allowed or permitted on the rifle range.
 
2.RRO has complete authority on all matters involved with the Rifle Range Operation, and is supported by the RSO in all decisions. N. R. A. 3 Rules for Safe Gun Handling will be observed by all participants using the rifle range. Those rules are as follows:
 
 1. Always Keep the Gun Pointed In a Safe Direction.
 2. Always Keep Your Finger Off the Trigger Until You Are Ready To Shoot.
 3. Always Keep the Gun Unloaded Until Ready to Use.
 
3.RRO will inspect the Rifle Range each day before opening for Safety and Serviceability, and report any discrepancies’ to the RSO on duty for inclusion into the daily log.
 
4.RSO & RRO must be on duty before any live fire can take place on the rifle range. This will be scheduled for designated days and hours; which will be published and on display!
 
5.RSO & RRO will have 2-way radio communication for safety reasons; these radios will be kept in the RSO Bldg. and will be checked in and out each day by the RRO on duty.
 
6.RRO will station himself @ firing pts. 19 & 20, for him to safely observe live fire, downrange as well as behind the firing line; he may walk the line for closer observation if the need arises.
 
7.RRO is NOT permitted to shoot while on duty! He must be on the line at all times and actively monitoring while live firing is taking place; he controls the scheduled “cease fire” and “commence fire” sequence. Shooters must ask RRO to call a scheduled cease fire.
 
8.RRO must pay attention to detail while observing live fire. No extended conversations with shooters, or handling of weapons/firearms and equipment.
 
9.RRO must verify that all rounds are striking into the butts, and has the authority to inspect any suspect firearm that is not; and disallow that particular shooter from using that firearm until it can be fixed, he may have to ask that shooter to leave and come back later.
 
10.At present all casual shooters will be allowed to use firing pt. numbers 6 thru 15 only.
 
11.All shooting participants must use the firing point tables and shoot from a supported position, utilizing one of the following methods; I. E. Shooting Rests, Bags, and/or sandbags.
 
12.Muzzles of all firearms must be back away from and may not protrude or extend into or beyond the shooting port of each firing position.
 
13.All firing will be at paper targets only, and must be approved by the RRO before usage. When mounting or attaching these targets to the back boards they must be positioned to stay within the confines of the wooden framework. There will be NO setting of clay birds, cans, bottles etc...On top of the frame work.
 
14.OBI and ECI (Open Bore Indicator, Empty Chamber Indicator) will be utilized during scheduled “CEASE FIRES”, while people are downrange. RRO will check each Firearm and declare “The Line Is Safe”, before allowing anyone to proceed downrange. After he checks and makes sure all have returned, he then can declare “The Line is Hot”. RRO will ensure that there is no handling of firearms and/or equipment while people are downrange. Shooters are to stay back away from their tables and are not permitted handling any firearm or equipment, until the RRO declares it is safe to do so.
 
15.NO RAPID FIRE of any kind will be permitted or tolerated! If the RRO finds you in violation you will be asked to leave.
 
16.All shooters are to clean up and police their’s plus all other shooting areas at the end of the day and/or completion of their time when they finishing shooting; this includes but is not limited to - i.e. brass, targets, and all other trash, and all should be placed in the proper containers.
 
17.Waiting List! With re-opening of the Rifle Range and if there are people waiting in line to shoot the RRO will maintain a waiting list and limit shooters to a 2 hour time limit. Checking and assigning shooters with times in and out.
 
18.Sanctioned Match’s, the RRO will not be needed the day of a scheduled Sanctioned Match and it will be governed by a (CMP Certified) Match Director, who will run said match under the auspices of the FSA Board of Directors.
 
19.The Secretary maintains a current list in the Rules and By-Laws of FSA concerning acceptable firearms that are allowed to be used on any given FSA Range especially the Rifle Range. The RSO has a current copy with them as well.
 
20.Violation of any Range rule by members is subject to review by the FSA Board of Directors which could result in probation, suspension of privileges or immediate expulsion. No dues refund should be expected if you are found guilty of breaking any of these or any other FSA rules of conduct while using your facility.
