5-Stand

5-Stand is a 25 target compact version of Sporting Clays that offers some very unique and challenging targets. Our 5-Stand is set up on one of our skeet fields and has been in operation since the Fall of 2008. We currently have 8 different target presentations available: Outgoing tower shot, Incomer, Left Crossing (Skeet high house), Right Crossing (Skeet low house), Rabbit, Springing Teal, and ATA Trap. Our targets currently range from the standard (105mm) targets, Rabbit, Midi (90mm), and now also a Battue. We use the latest Sporting Clays traps from Promatic, Mattarelli skeet traps, and fully wireless controls to guarantee a great shooting experience.

To shoot 5-Stand you need your own shotgun (or borrow one from a friend), safety glasses (prescription glasses are acceptable), hearing protection, shotshells, and a shooting vest or pouch to hold at least 50 shells.

Training:

We have not yet established a training program for 5-Stand, but if you come to one of our open shoots there is usually a member around that will gladly assist you while you shoot a round or two. Please contact the 5-Stand Section Leader to express your interest in beginners training.

5-Stand Ammunition:

Only #9, #8.5 #8, and #7.5 lead shot shells can be used on FSA's 5-Stand/skeet fields for safety reasons. #6 size and larger (6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 00 etc.) CANNOT be used. Also steel shot CANNOT be used. Obviously NO slugs EVER!

Rules of Thumb:
  1. The shells you hunt with normally cannot be shot on the Skeet Fields.
  2. High brass shells are normally an indicator of hunting loads, not Skeet Loads.
  3. If you don't know what new shells or reloads you have, please don't use them on the Skeet Fields without approval of the Skeet Manager on duty.
FSA has shotgun target loads (12ga, 20ga, 28ga, and 410) available for sale at the Trap House and the Skeet House during Sunday and Friday Open Shoots.

If you'd like more information on what 5-Stand loads may be best for you and your gun, stop by our Open Shoots on Friday evenings or Sundays. We have a lot of seasoned shooters that would love to help you out. Make sure you bring your gun - we'd love to have you shoot with us!

5-Stand Rules:

5-Stand Rules of Conduct and Safety are posted in the Skeet Building and are as follows:
  1. Eye and ear protection is mandatory.
  2. A 5-Stand Round is based on 25 total targets thrown, with 5 targets thrown at each of 5 stations. We have three different levels of difficulty available:
LEVEL 1 (Beginner) – 5 singles, no doubles
     LEVEL 2 (Intermediate) – 3 singles and 1 double
     LEVEL 3 (Advanced) – 1 single and 2 doubles
  3. Your gun may be loaded at all times when you are in a shooting Station as long as it is pointed through the station window in a safe direction. Only 2 shells may be loaded in your gun at a time.
  4. Keep your ATTENTION on the targets at all times while in the shooting stations, due to the possibility of broken target projectiles.
  5. Stay in your current Station until ALL five shooters have shot the rotation.
  6. The shooter at Station 1 during the first rotation is the lead-off shooter for all rotations.
  7. Two shots may be taken at each SINGLES target, therefore up to 50 shotshells (LEVEL 1) may be required to shoot a round.
  8. Do not pick up ejected hulls until after the 25 target round is complete and all shooters have left the shooting stations.
